AOP Cahors Rouge

The terroir at the Domaine Les Roques de Cana is clay-chalk and iron-bearing soil of the Causse (limestone plateau) of Saint-Vincent Rive d’Olt. The estate uses responsible farming methods. These methods help manage and reduce the use of chemical products and fertilisers. Blended with Malbec then Merlot as the dominant grapes, this wine is made with high quality grapes grown with closely controlled yields.

A history

The vineyard was one of the first planted after the Roman invasion of Gaul, over 2,000 years ago. The village is dedicated to the patron saint of vinegrowers. It boasts strong symbolism and pays homage to the wedding in Cana, the first miracle attributed to Jesus, the day when he turned water into wine. The desire to awaken the sleeping beauty, to create a great estate in Cahors as there had been for eighteen centuries, required a combination of romantic faith, a unique terroir and a legendary grape: Malbec. This is the story behind the estate.
